Rebuilding Day April 2026
Mrs. H, an older homeowner who shares her home with her granddaughter and five great-grandchildren, faced several critical home repair and accessibility challenges. Water was entering the home through damaged doors, a window, and deteriorating siding, while two nonfunctional stairlifts made it difficult for her to navigate the home's multiple staircases. The kitchen countertop was severely damaged, and the front entrance lacked railings for safe access. Through this repair project, two exterior doors and damaged siding were replaced, a new window and kitchen countertop were installed, both stairlifts were repaired, and new railings were added to the front steps. During Rebuilding Day on April 25, 2026, volunteers also completed extensive exterior improvements, including trimming bushes and small trees to improve visibility and reduce rodent activity, weeding and mulching garden beds, and reinstalling the mailbox to ensure proper mail delivery. These repairs have made the home safer, more accessible, and more comfortable for Mrs. H and her family.
