Offering Safe And Effective Home Renovation And Restoration

Rebuilding Together – Anne Arundel County, Inc. is dedicated to improving the quality of life in our community - one home at a time! Working hand-in-hand with local businesses, we perform free home renovations for the elderly, disabled, and very low-income families. Our approach is a heartwarming blend of safety and passion. Volunteers learn the correct way to perform every job, then share in the satisfying results. Under the supervision of a House Captain — and using materials donated by area companies — Rebuilding Together volunteers provide a variety of much-needed disabled and elderly house repairs. Won’t you join us? Our typical low-income home renovation and revitalization services may include:

  • Replacing or repairing roofs
  • Installing gutters and siding
  • Replacing inefficient windows
  • Installing hot - water heaters
  • Repairing or replacing furnaces
  • Installing grab bars and railings

Providing A Variety Of Elderly And Disabled House Repair Services

Every year on Blitz Day, nearly 30 Anne Arundel County households benefit from our home renovation and restoration projects. Last year, house repair volunteers made a huge difference in the life of Florence Hayes. The 90-year - old resident had difficulty climbing the stairs to her only bathroom. Rebuilding Together House Captain George Councill and Ambassador Catherine Dorsey worked with a team to construct a first-floor bathroom in a corner of Mrs. Hays existing living room. On Blitz Day, volunteers not only finished the new bath, they built a handicapped ramp to the house, installed a new bulkhead and cellar doors, painted the upstairs bath, and hauled away unused household items. Thanks to Rebuilding Together, Mrs. Hayes now lives in a safer, more convenient home. Other examples of Blitz Day’s accessible-home-modification projects include:

  • Installing hot -and cold- running water for an elderly disabled man
  • Completing extensive plumbing repairs in an elderly woman’s home
  • Widening the bathroom door for a man confined to a wheelchair
  • Installing a new septic tank for an elderly woman
