Seeking Teen-Centered Community Service Project Ideas
Looking for worthwhile community service projects for schools? Want to teach our young people how they can help build a better community? Consider organizing a group of high school students to volunteer for Rebuilding Together – Anne Arundel County, Inc. This Maryland charity is dedicated to helping low-income elderly and disabled and low-income homeowners stay warm, safe, dry and independent. See what happens when caring teens channel their energy toward making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. What’s more, community service opportunities allow these students to earn Student Service Credit for their charitable work if they volunteer for at least eight hours. Individuals are welcome to sign up if they meet these qualifications:
- Are at least 14 years old and committed to making a difference
If under 18, obtain written consent of a parent or guardian
- Wear sturdy shoes or boots (no flip-flops, sandals, or shoes that may slip)
- Wear appropriate clothing, including hats, gloves, and sunscreen
- Bring simple tools such as rakes, brooms, and shovels, if available
